I've only heard cows bark when they get bumped from their beds or separated from the herd.

Just a YouTube video i found. I've heard it a couple times a year. You can do it back at them with a bugle tube

No but, found an area that in years past was used for it. Several hundred feet of flexible tube shoved into a hill side spring

Went with my neighbor yesterday morning and didn't see an elk. Came home, got dried off and went to the area I had the big bulls on cam. At 6:30 I had a spike come out of the timber and start feeding. He kept looking back so, I knew there was more elk. After about 10 minutes he broke and ran, I look left and see a bull. Really nice, tall 5x5. Checked him out for about a minute and dropped off my hill out of view to get below to make a game plan.
I came around the bottom of the hill only to see ZERO elk. He had ran the spike off and ducked back in with his cows... No replies to cow calls and would respond to bugles a 'lil. I knew he wasn't gonna leave his cows so I bailed.

This morning, I saw 2 cows in there, no bulls. Got rained on again...
Gonna head back later and sit the corner of the clear cut he came in on last night. Maybe he'll repeat.

This cow crossed the entire clear cut solo. Guessing she's been breed, not sure.

Big bull area again last night. Just a couple bugles in timber.
