Looking to purchase a high flow brush cutter. The 2 I’m looking at are a Bradco ground shark and Blue Diamond severe duty. I have ran a ground shark before and it’s a nice cutter. Does anyone have personal experience with a Blue Diamond? It has a 3” bigger cut capacity than the ground shark. Also open to other recommendations

What are you going to attach it to? Hi-flow skid steer or tractor?

Before you buy anything. Look at Vail Products. They have a new product called X Mulcher. They also have a regular high flow cutter.
Here is the video we did.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn2OwQ5pCYU&t=1s

I have the regular low flow cutter and it does incredible. Very well made products.

I’m satisfied with my landshark cutter. It will cut practically anything but does a poor job mulching

Does it have carbide teeth on the blade carrier?

I have a friend with a new JD and a high flow brush cutter with the carbide teeth on the stump jumper. It'll cut a pretty good sized hardwood and then eat the stump.

I don’t know if it has carbide blades. It has 4 short blades mounted to an extra heavy stump jumper that has carbide teeth underneath. The concept is to cut with blades then grind with carbide teeth. Does great job cutting, not so good grinding. It’s still a good tool for the $

Yeah that’s the same one I have ran. I agree with your assessment. Cuts good but definitely not a mulcher

I work on a bradco ground shark pretty regularly. Nothing major just replacing the gear box seal. I actually dont replace the seal I just down the machine for the customer to take the hub to cowin in Huntsville to replace the seal since you have to have some kind of specialty tool to take the nut off and to torque it back to spec after its put on a press and pressed back together. When I down it for them the hydraulic motor and to be removed then the stump jumper then you can unbolt the hub from the deck. If he'd quit running over fences, rope, wire, clothes as often he wouldn't have to have the seal replaced as often

I've got a hand-me-down 2001 Homelite chainsaw and a 2017 bow saw.

We were having some logging done several years ago and theu had a cutter kinda lit those on a skidder. Ol bay was up behind the cabin working and we heard the dangedest noise and looked up in the holler and saw a big cloud of white duct/smoke. Fellow was e going around the bottom of the mountain, ran off in a hole and it threw him forward and when it happened he hit the enguage switch and the blade burried up in a big limestone rock. His body weight had him pinned in a way it took him a bit to sit up. But by then the blade had gone 2' into that rock and ruined the crap out of it. Boss wasn't real happy.

Cutter heads vary tremendously in price and performance. The Ground Shark (which we sell a bunch of) is a good head for cleaning out under trees and will grind down decent stuff with the carbide teeth in the center. A disc style head like I sold wmmoorejr is a little more aggressive with many carbide teeth underneath, around the edge and some on top of the disc. No swinging blades at all.

The drum style mulcher head is more aggressive yet but is STILL a very inefficient method to get rid of large standing trees. Sure some will cut it off at the bottom (a Ground Shark will do that) but you still have a however long however thick tree to do something with. Cutting a stump down is not a quick process either.
