Got the itch to try and knock something down with my 44mag pistol. What ammo would y'all recommend for deer and hogs?

I’ve used everything they make and I make. There are a few standouts but none of them produce dramatic results over the other on deer and hogs.
The standouts (in rifles) for me are Buffalo Bore Deergrenade, 180gr Rem, and a Barnes HP. In handguns with longer barrel, they about the same.
I settled on 240gr Magtech (44A) for a GP round.

210 gr silvertip will put a hurting on deer or hog. With that said i use a ruger deerstalker carbine. Plus when those pesky armadillo decide to pop out at 75yrds and precede to dig up the greenfield you can send one downrange and be amazed at the destruction. And it's down right nasty on coyote within 100

More times than not, your 44 mag will pick the ammo you use, more so in Marlin rifles.
If you find something it likes (accuracy) off the shelf, they all work about the same Hp or solid

Hey, I just checked it.
I’ve use the Buffalo Bore 270 and 300 something and I can’t remember which one wouldn’t cycle in my levergun but they didn’t do anything over the standard 240 on deer and hogs for me so I didn’t do any more.
Those 240 XTP’s are a good bullet and I never recovered one except in a hog and it performed well.
Now to the subject of Accuracy in the mighty 77/44, ESPECIALLY THE SYNTHETIC one. There is an anomaly with the bullet speed -vs- the recoil, the dang muzzle is moving before the bullet exits. Not many folk can solve this problem in the field except to go to something faster and lighter like the Rem 180gr. I’ve seen this rifle move and kick the piss out of big men. Its very surprising indeed since I have a Henry Carbine that doesn’t kick at all. The 77/44 when locked down is accurate with almost all ammo I’ve seen put through one, they are popular and a heck of a rifle. If a fella just can’t settle her down the 357 version solves all that. Even if you get her sighted in on the bench, I suggest you shoot it off hand and braced like against a tree or something to see where she hits.
I think I chrono’d the Factory Rem 180’s at almost 2200fps and they work great!
A couple of guys I know dropped it in a Boyds Laminate and put a heavier scope on them and made them much better to shoot.

Its the only thing that the guys I know can figure and why it is better with 44 special and some factory 240, 225, and 180. Generally those low speed big bores are in much heavier rifles. The push the 77/44 has with certain loads is surprising especially when watching someone else shoulder it off hand.
