Anyone on here do it? Short course to be specific. My boys want to get into it, and have asked for the Traxxas RC truck for Christmas. I went to Huntsville Tuesday at the hobby shop and they had a course there. Picked up some trucks dang these ain't no Walmart priced toys. But dang if it didn't look like fun to me also after watching some races on YouTube. Just wondering if anyone's here kids do it and how family friendly is it.

My son has gone through so many of those things I could have bought him a real truck.

They are a lot of fun but the expensive part is the upgrades that will inevitably come. If you are doing nitro be prepared for the fuel prices. Some stuff can be as much as 50 bucks a gallon. Oh yeah they will break them and then you get to buy more parts to fix them. They are crazy fun and take a lot of practice to get real good. I think it is a great hobby to get into with your boys. I guarantee they will have a ton of fun and I bet you will too.

They went with electric. Yes the man at the store hooked me up with a middle of the road truck. He said if they stick with it that I could bring them back and upgrade the batteries and something else don't remember. And they would be a 75 mph truck for around 125.00 more. I talked to him about the parts and what is common to have to fix. I got to looking at the Nitro trucks myself, I love tinkering with engines and stuff. Them things will scream!! Daddy may end up with one also.

I used to race nitro 1/8 truggies and buggies. I too started with a traxxas but quickly moved to Mugen brand. I got out about the time the electric stuff started taking over. Nitro is a blast but competitive racing can get expensive. Like any good hobby I guess.
