Its that time of year again in southeast Alabama. Conecuh Springs Christian School will be having our annual school deer hunt starting tomorrow. Hunters from all over the country will travel to Bullock County, AL to enjoy some of the best whitetail hunting in the south. We have been holding this hunt for over 10 yrs and each year dozens of deer are harvest with coolers full of fresh venison and priceless smiles and enjoyment of the outdoors.

I will personally be taking hunters out this weekend in hopes of helping each one I guide make memories to last forever and with a little good forture take a great Bullock County buck home with them. Will post pics and hunt details each day for all who are interested to follow along.

The rut is full swing here in Bullock County with temps dropping below freezing the next few days after this front moves through tonight. The timing and weather should be perfect to have a lot of happy hunters by Saturday night.

It has gotten bad. We have trapped or shot 75 since last summer and have not slowed them down yet. Going to keep trying. LOL

Good luck with the hunt. We had the Lion Club hunt in/around Montgomery last week. Good time great food and lots of funds raised for charity. Weather was not our friend. Hope weather will be good for your guys.

Will the fields be fed with corn and rice bran leading up to time?

Fortunately, for Bullock County our deer population is as high as anywhere in the state. Seeing deer is not generally a problem. Now cornering a wiley old buck may be more difficult in south Alabama than anywhere in the country. You can’t blink without scaring them away. 😂

33 hunters went out this afternoon for their first hunt of the weekend. I have 4 hunting with my brother and I. Two hunting over greenfields and two hunting prime hardwoods along a swamp bottom. Saw deer already in fields when putting out hunters out at 2:30. Wind is starting to die down as the temp is dropping. We have seen one lone spike on our field. They should start moving soon. Going to be a perfect weekend for hunting.

23 deer made it to the skinning rack tonight. 7 racked bucks. 3 of my 4 hunters got on the scoreboard tonight with a deer. Two doe and a nice 8pt. The deer are running wide open. Lots of deer seen by all hunters as the rut is in full swing. At 4:45pm one of my hunters sends this pic.

This needs a sticky and when folks ask which lodge to go to just ask them to compare "LODGE SUCCESS RATES" to the Conecuh hunt where 33 hunters took 23 deer on day one... WOW!

More bucks from last night. Have my 4 hunters settled in this am. All in mature hardwoods along a swamp and crop fields. Heard one shot that sounded like it was one of my hunters just now. We have seen one small buck out of where I am sitting this morning. Perfect morning, 29 degrees and deer were moving everywhere on the way to the property.

9 more deer brought to the rack this morning. The deer are moving heavy before daylight and late afternoon. This afternoon should be another good number taken.

I am in a thick mixed brush and hardwood this evening. No hunters on greenfields tonight. We are all hunting the woods leading to the fields. Lots of movement already.
