I have never threw one but a time or 2. I’m looking for a rundown on rigs, heads, and swimbaits. I really know nothing about them. Any info would be appreciated

Get a yum flash mob jr. Buy a pack of 1/8 ounce shakey heads and a pack of paddle tail flukes(cant recall what they call them). Open flash mob jr, take the hooks and grubs out of pack and place them in garbage. Rig up shakey head /flukes on flash mob jr. Get a 7'3 heavy rod with 65lb braid and start chunking and winding!

when and where to throw them is the biggest thing. im sure fish have been caught just going down the bank but it really shines around fish suspended over deeper water. its not for me i refuse to throw the stupid thing

We will burn that bridge when we get there

The only time I’ve ever used one was the one time I fished Lake Guntersville. I used one with 3 inch swimbaits in deeper water and on about the 5th cast caught an 8.5 lb bass. It feels like your casting a 5 gallon bucket but definitely can work.

I'm with Bead, I hate to fish with anyone throwing one in shallow water.

I would quit fishing if I had to resort to one of them to catch fish. Like throwing a dam cast net. Like said before a real pain to fish with someone throwing one.

I like throwing one enough to to buy a set up for one. They are not that hard to throw if you have the right rod.

I absolutely love them, and hope that most other people hate to throw it! laugh thumbup

Just my $.02....... Think "small". Use the "Jr" versions, ALWAYS use the ones with extra flash blades (think Flash Mob Jr). My local tackle store sells a brand named "Hooch Gooch", it's like the Flash Mob Jr, but is the same price and looks more quality/realistic. At the biggest, use 1/8oz heads, sometimes even 1/16 depending on what you want to do with it. I will throw them shallow along the bank, boat docks, trees, over grass, etc. Make it manageable, think "small". Just strictly preference, but I like the Dirty Jigs swimbait heads, and I basically ONLY use Reaction Innovations Little Dippers. The only part of that that's negotiable is the brand of rig and swimbaits you want to use.

I've never won a tournament using an A-rig, but I've had some tremendous days goofing around and have caught some huge individual fish on them. It's a cold-weather bait to me, I seldom (if ever) use them outside of the lateFall/Winter/earlySpring period. We fished Guntersville on Black Friday this past November and flat destroyed some fish with them, and I'm talking some pigs too. Those fish were in about 4-6' of water in scattered dying grass on a tapering point, I was holding my rod tip high and rolling it over that grass, Lord they'd make you holler when they hit it!!! They literally wouldn't hit ANYTHING else.

I use an original BassPro CarbonLite rod (the old matte black ones with micro guides), 7-6 HF, 45# braid, and an older Shimano Citica 200E (I think it's 6.3:1)

I use a 7'3" Duckett Triad xh, Revo sx & 40# braid. I can throw it a long way. It's not an every trip deal but when times are tough it will produce.

Was fishing below Wheeler Dam with Jimmy Mason a couple of years ago throwing the Flash Mob in the current.

MY GOSH.

When the hybrids smashed it my arms jumped. Then the fight was on. I think we caught hybrids, smallies and largemouth just puttering around out there.

As much as I've thrown it though, I've never caught multiples at once. I've gotten to where I intentionally try too, but no luck. Lately when one gets it, I barely react and just start slowly reeling it in, thinking another one will get it.

I’m not excited about it but I feel like it’s dominating my home lake right now. So throw it on braid even in clear water? Or 25# fluoro?

Threw one about a dozen times. Got back to the launch and gave them away to a bass club buddy.

I don't have one and don't bass fish but why would you worry about using fluorocarbon when you're throwing and umbrella frame? They're dang sure gonna see the coat hangars.

I say this humorously (not being a smarty pants).... if they don't see the huge gaggle of steel wires, they ain't gonna spook from the braid. laugh I assume your home lake is Smith? I fish Wedowee and it's pretty similar, and they choke an A-rig with braid.

I think you could throw it on braid without any issue regarding sight or "fish will see it."

But IMO the issue would be hanging up or having the braid dig into the spool. Both to me would be huge pains that you'd probably not encounter with flurorocarbon.
