Years ago I can remember my dad taking us kids to a pay to fish trout pond once, and a pay to fish catfish lake. They both would have been a hr or less from Bham. They charged by the # for what you kept. Anyone know of any nowdays around?

There used to be one on Cty Rd 11 between Pelham & Chelsea. Not sure if it’s still open though

The use to have a catfish pond about an hour outside bham on highway 5. It was good to we fished one weekend when they opened up a new lake that had not been fished in about 10 years. Every cast was a 10lb or plus catfish.

Had a couple trout and catfish ponds in McCalla years ago that charged by the pound, that place closed about 15-16 years ago I guess. It was open on weekends and had, best I remember, 6 ponds that they rotated fishing in. It was always packed on weekends not sure why they stopped

Down towards Marion there's a place that charges $100 1/2 day per person.

You can thank Mary Buckalew for closing them. They were too close to her golf course that was built with county equipment.
