BGe will not “last forever”. FWIW

It’s constant upkeep. I have 3 and they’re great, but require attention

The Kick Ash Basket is a must have for ceramic grills that don't have an ash pan that pulls out. I put one in my Primo and it's the cats meow for cleaning up the charcoal for the next burn. Shop vac for getting the ashes out is also an option. I may relight charcoal that's 2 months old and add some new on top of it.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

X3. Sounds like Snuffy needs to trade his egg in for a gasser
After all the hardware rusted away and the fire box crack INSIDE the egg. I gave it away and bought a pellet smoker.
Dang you gave it away in the last three hours.

I got it. I was wondering if anyone else did. He's lying! 100%

Neither are within my budget these days, but if they were, from what I've seen and tasted from being with people using both, I'd get the Egg in a heartbeat.

In the meantime, my little converted 7 gallon barrel does a great job since I'm generally only cooking for a couple of us. I am going to have to find some steel sheeting to roll and lay in the bottom before too long though.

Gave it to a buddy. I have 2 of the Vision's now. One and home and one at the cabin. I posted in my cabin thread where I picked the one at the cabin up for only $200. The one at the house I picked up for only $299. They were both a damn steal.

Not really an apples to apples comparison, but I’ve had my Egg since 1998 and have never had one problem with it. I’ve held constant temps for 18 hours with no issues. The Egg in my opinion would allow you to do more than the Treager.

Primo with kick ash basket. Indirect heat very easy with firebox divider, something that is more difficult in round ceramics.

Temp control is easy, just don't over shoot it and you'll be fine. I

Primo or Kamado Joe. Both are great cookers and they will do anything you want to do.

I will second that. It's possible the ceramic itself could outlive you, but you'll have to replace gaskets, fire rings and other hardware eventually. Just like anything else on earth, parts wear out.

Ive ben well pleased with my BGE. Just got the remote temperature monitor so I can see the temp of the grill and the meat while I'm inside. I like the entire system, they do a great job

I have a Weber gas and a RecTec pellet grill at home and a BGE and Buffalo pellet at the camp. I think there is a time and usage for all of them. And the kick ash basket is the bees knees for the BGE. I've had my egg for 8 or 9 years, I've had to replace the spring/ring assembly and put a new felt gasket on it in that time. We do more larger cooks at the camp, so I took my egg up there and just use the weber gas at home now.

If I was going to have a good single setup for a home location, I'd get a BGE or Primo for grilling and a Pit Boss pellet for long smokes.

You must be my neighbor. After looking at mine and seeing how well it works, he went out and bought one. Keeps it stored inside his workshop when not in use. Takes it apart and power washes the inside after every 3 or 4 uses. I just shake my head. Once a year I take mine apart and clean out all the ash. Periodically I will get some soap on a sponge and clean the dome. That's it.

If you can't control the temp, you are letting it get too hot. When my dome thermometer hits 400, I shut it down to 225 and it stays there for hours.

Nope my egg stayed outside in the weather. It was full of mold and mildew between cooks.
