What she probably doesn’t realize is that the work involved is what we enjoy the most. Plus staying active at your age is the absolute best thing you can do and i don’t mean that disrespectful. This. The killing is bittersweet because I don’t look forward to checking my cameras as much. Also once you’re north of 70 you have to keep moving

My cousin and I said that when our grandpa quit hunting he would pass on. 2 months after that first season he didn’t hunt, he passed. That was April of 2016. In July 2016 he would have been 92!!

I can’t imagine not hunting or not being in the woods. I can’t do things like I used too but I don’t have any quit in me so I guess my answer to this question will be When my toes are turned up or something very severe has happened that I can’t move
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself
The older I get the better I used to be

I'm not as old as you Deerman, but I was rode hard and put up wet and it has taken a toll. I can no longer use a climber, which is the only way I enjoyed bowhunting, and I am not too enthusiastic about shooting one with a scoped rifle. As kind of a compromise, I have found enjoyment in hunting off the ground with an open sight 30-30, like my grampa did. Other than that, I like to film deer and show to the guys that could have gone to that stand what they missed out on or take a kid hunting. Their excitement is as good as my excitement for them. Like you, I really don't want to die anytime soon, but when I do, in a shooting house would be as good a place as any to go.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
