I have high BP. I am a tad overweight but not terrible. When I was diagnosed with it, the dr told me that I needed to exercise more. I had just run like 7 miles the day before (I was training for a half marathon). We talked about that and he put me on a very light dosage of lisinopril. Great blood pressure now. And I still run Same here, minus the running

2 things #1 you should get a home blood pressure and test, mine always runs higher at the dr.
#2 high bp isnt something to take lightly. My mother got frusterated with hers and quit taking her meds due to side affects. She ended up with complete renal failure in a year or two and was on dialysis till she died 8 years later.

Treating blood pressure isn’t rocket science, and I’ve never heard of someone going to a specialist just for that. I might consider getting a second opinion. No it's not rocket science , but judging from some posts here , it must be difficult in some cases. Second opinion is what we want, just want someone with a little more knowledge than a regular MD. No denying that, there are some folks that it will take some trial and error to get it down consistently.

I take it she checks blood pressure at home with a good instrument? I ask because we have a guy here at work that has (self diagnosed), white coat syndrome. He swears his bp is good until he sits down with the nurse/dr for them to check it...and it don't help that they start asking him questions. We joke about it all the time, when i know it could be serious.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I think my father went through about 10-15 different medications before he found one that worked like it should. I am no doctor but I do know he had a hard time finding one that would work.
I don't think it is entirely the doctor's fault she just needs to keep trying different meds. There's a TON of them for this reason. If there was one med that worked on everyone this would not be a problem.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

The designation "white coat syndrome" is a real thing however you still have high blood pressure. Its just anxiety or stress in a relative sense that is driving that blood pressure up. Its great his BP is supposedly fine sitting on the couch but it may really be high when he is out and about during the daily grind and stress. Its something to definitely keep an eye on. Id go ahead and say he has high BP he just doesn't know it yet.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
