I'm not one to post much of my personal life but I also talk about people not being real on the internet and only posting the "good times" so I'm going to be transparent. My dad has Parkinson's and we thought he might be suffering from TIA's and took him to emergency room last Thursday and brought him home Friday afternoon. They couldn't find anything on tests so we aren't sure whether it was TIA's or his Parkinson's acting up. We thought we were out of the dog house. My how things change.
The next morning my mother complained about having a bad headache which is common for her. Within 30 minutes we were calling 911 to get him help picking her up from the floor and transported to the hospital. She suffered a stroke caused by 2 brain bleeds (she was on blood thinners) and 22 hours later passed away.
I'm dealing with the death pretty well but watching my dad, who we feel is in early stages of dementia, is struggling with the loss of his wife of 53 years and it's made his tremors worse which is expected with his Parkinson's being aggravated. My other struggle is watching my brother who pastors a church. As we were sitting there Sunday night discussing our plan going forward, the day mom died, my brother gets a call about a suicide in the family of one of his members and they are wanting him to cut their son down (which most know you can't until first responders get there). The very next day another member in his church passed away and he now has to speak at mom's funeral and another one this week and attend the third. Luckily he got someone to do the third. I've never seen my brother shut down but this happening all at one time has him stressed to the max. We are burying her Thursday so there has been a couple of days between death and funeral but it was out of our hands and had to do it this way.
Being a chaplain, I'm usually the one who answers the call to help others in this situation. Today I'm asking for your prayers and I know I will receive them and know that I appreciate those of you who have already reached out on Facebook and to each of you that I know will keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
