Anyone made the successful switch from Custom SSTs to Superperformance SSTs? I’m down to my last box of Customs and not looking forward to switching ammo. I know the rounds are similar, but those Customs have been flawless.

Same bullet, different powder. I can’t get any Superformance ammo to group in my rifles. Read up reviews on Midwayusa or similar. Appears to be very rifle dependent. Some people report good results. Not me though.

Super Performance won't group in my 308 either but the regular SST is fine.

Yep same deal with my 7mm08. I could shoot both Nosler and Hornady out of my Sako and the POI was dang near same hole, but when they "changed the name/box" my gun will no longer shoot them...

My Tikka and POF group sub MOA with 150gr. Sst superformance
My 2 rem 700 won’t hold 4”. Just have to shoot them to find out.
I spent several hundred dollars last year trying to find the best round for all my .308s
Ended up being 150 fusions. They grouped at least 1.5” so I standardized in all but the Tikka.
The SST is a Deer hammer if your gun will group with it.

Dayum. A 308 that shoots 4" groups? I think I would take that POS and throw it in a deep lake.

Only with the sst superformance. They shoot at least 1" with fusions and federal premium. Dont ask he why but the superformance was terrible in 150 and 165. Got a 7 mag that wont group with them either.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I have some shooting to do after the season is over. They are no doubt a hammer, deer never take more than a few steps.

Some rifles like the Superformance SST and some don't. They kill just fine.

I always pick the hunting load that shoots best in a particular rifle, or I have a load development done.

I've shot the Superformance in 4 different 7mm-08 rifles and only 1 rifle liked them. It is a model 7 stainless my FIL has. My daughters 700, a Steyr I had and Ruger American did not like them

Superformance is the only ammo I've found that my Bergara 6.5CM doesn't like. I've shot at least 10 different factory loads through it and it's the only one that sucks.

The superformance SST isn't as good as the old custom SST

I wonder if the powders compressed mixed with an overcrimped case causing bullet yaw because of the two? Never messed with any .308 that wasn't at least moa with ammo it liked I'm no ballistician or rocket scientist but I've shot a round or two dozen thousands in my time.

I’ve heard that Superformance powder is a mix of two different speeds. I wonder if it does something weird to internal ballistics/chamber harmonics /blah blah. There’s something about it where only certain guns seem to shoot it consistently.

The 2 rifles i have that will group them have 20" and 16" barrels. The 2 rem 700s are 22" as i said above they wont group for crap. i wouldnt think it makes a difference but who knows.

Rarely hear anything good about accuracy with the Superformance powders. It gives good velocities, but chitty accuracy.
