Unless it has changed, it's dealer only. They only let customers in on open house days. This. Not open to the public.

Is this Don Woods old business - Gun South that used to be in Trussville? Pretty sure they are long since out of it. Woods family originally owned Aeromarine at Eastwood mall area; they sold the rifle to James Earl Ray that killed MLK. By the way.

I remember Don having to go to Germany to negotiate the Steyr line. He ended up becoming the world-wide importer for their product and assembled himself a great team of folks there in Trussville. His gunsmith was a German fellow (Herman or Herbert, something like that) that Steyr had moved to the states to support their product. All of his tools that he used to work on the guns he had hand-made at a young age in Seoul. He was a man of few words as his English wasn't too sporty. It seems that only a few years after being named importer, the BATF seized a large shipment of AUG's at Birmingham airport in front of the waiting media who immediately broadcasted. It was a political stunt orchestrated by the "those in charge" and it aggravated an already touchy subject - "assault weapons."

Or at least was a couple years ago when I had some dealing with him. Nice guy, hard to understand, but he helped me out of a tight spot. Pro Tip: DO NOT use heat cure cerakote on a Pro Hunter Stock

There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

The shop is open to the public. They have the big annual sale usually in autumn.
The underground shooting tunnel at the GSI facility in Trussville was uber-cool.

I left a message. I plan on calling again and trying to speak to someone ASAP. You wouldn’t think it would be so difficult to spend money... Buy me one while you’re there.

In case anyone needs to know the outcome. All that you need to do is call and make an appointment. They’ll let you in and give you the kind of one on one service that doesn’t show itself much these days. Everyone was super nice and the purchase was easy.
Herbert is still the smith there and still had very little to say... He got wound up one day and about talked our ears off. He is a master Smith without a doubt the best I've ever seen. Did you see where they make the Aug barrels?
We will burn that bridge when we get there
