I read about it. That is about like a club tournament where they wanted us to fish is Selma with the river crest at 30 ft. I told my son there was no way we were doing it. Sometimes you have to use a little judgement.

I Hate it when they blame the tournament directors solely. At the end of the day we are responsible for ourselves. Yes I believe the tournament directors should have made better decisions, but if something is dangerous I have to make a decision for my self that I have to live with.

We flashed a big bass splash tournament at Sam rayburn a few years ago the water got rough like this and they came on the radio telling everyone if they had to run to the weigh and was a long way to trailer your boat

Everyone survived.

I’m curious if all the boats were recovered. No idea how you could retrieve sunken boats with the river rolling like that.

It’s pretty hard to sink most boats to the bottom because of the foam in them for floatation. Most of the time they just get swamped.

We were out in it for two hours before we made it back in. It was the roughest water I have ever been in. They did recover all boats and no injuries. Coastguard reported eight foot swells while doing the recovery. Postponed it to Sunday and the water was like glass.
