Shoutout to Ben2, not sure that he's affiliated with the Motivated Movers group out of Tuscaloosa but they moved us into the new office today and it went off great. I'm out of state for some army training and it really put my mind at ease to know I had some professionals there helping us get things loaded up

Hopefully not distracting the original, but is there a way to check freshly installed carpet to find out if it was stretched tight enough? Or will we just have to wait and see what happens? Having some installed Wednesday. Thanks

It sounds like it wasnt stretched correctly.
ANYTIME you have carpet installed you HAVE to touch up paint. Period. There is no way to not have some scratches on baseboards. Sure there is. Remove the baseboards and install carpet to the wall, like it's supposed to be done. Then install new baseboards like it's supposed to be done. What the heck are you talking about? You do NOT remove baseboards on a carpet install OK? I flip and build houses for a living. I lay carpet and tile. That is crazy. You dont even remove baseboard for tile or wood either . You just remove and put in put in new shoe mould. ive never heard of removing baseboards as long as ive been around construction properly installed baseboards are blocked high enough off the floor the carpet will tuck under them. the standard for tile or wood floors is to install shoe moulding over the baseboard after the install.

Having some installed Wednesday. Thanks As a general rule of thumb with residential institutions, pinch the carpet nap with your thumb and index knuckle and gently pull it up . It should fall rather quickly. If you can still see an air pocket under it after 3 seconds or so it needs to be tighter. Some areas may not get stretched as much as others in order to not pull a seam apart .

I would think on a commercial application it was a glue down installation. The carpet knap could feel like it was moving especially if it was a 26 ounce or heavier. As for as what caused the bubbles or wrinkles in a glue down installation it could be a different number of things .Using the wrong adhesive, not enough adhesive(wrong trowel size),cut to tight, not rolled with a roller,or room temperature or carpet temperature too cold for installation. All of those factors are really important especially if the carpet has a unitary backing system on it.As for the skint walls, sometimes it happens with cold weather, stiff carpet and fresh paint especially if the installers are not extra careful.
