If you like to catch catfish, now is the time to get some raw chicken breast for catfish bait. The eating sized blues and channels love this stuff. I hope to have proof with pics after Saturday.

Never fished with Breasticles before.
However, the other day I was driving across the causeway
from Spanish Fort to Mobile and noticed a Dude on the
side reeling in what looked to be a rather large fish due to the
obvious bend in his rod. I slowed down to get a look as I drove
by. He pulled that sucker up and i was like WTH is that????
It took a minute to process, but he was using an entire
Chicken carcass for bait (wings,neck,drumsticks,etc.)
The outfit he was using could barely reel in the bait, how
was he hoping to get whatever would eat that thing in?

I'm thinking they have. Hopefully I'll have a first person report after Saturday. I've already told The Boss that I don't care what she eats on Sunday, I'm planning on having fried catfish.

Dye your chicken chunks red with Kool Aid or a few drops of red dye in a Ziplock.

I hung into one yesterday with 6lb line. I think it was a flathead. I never could get him off the bottom. Came home with crappie and another mess of fish I don't like to tell people about lol. We were talking to a old man the whole time and he caught several 10 to 15 lb blues. He fought one for 1.5 hours he hung with his crappie poles. He didn't get it in but it sure made him happy. 13 flood gates open and he was giving it hell

Give me some more details... bumping the bottom & drifting? Deep in those rocks? I'm about to have 3 weeks off & am splitting it between the woods & the water.

Chicken chunks with strawberry jello mix works well, too.

I should be a weatherman. My predicted chicken bite was 100% off. High water and high wind made drifting below the dam impossible. One channel cat was all we could muster. So we changed plans. Caught 15 bluegill and just started graphing new places to fish. Every stop produced one or two flatheads within 10 minutes. Our two best were 15 and 10 lbs. We ran out of cut bait at 3:30 and called it a good day. Water temp was 64. Needs to drop another 10 degrees.

Flatheads are fine eating. You keep them?

I'm not going to argue much with another man's taste buds but I kept a 6lb flathead about a year ago and I wasn't really impressed with it. Had a weird taste. The bluecats we were catching out of weiss were very clean tasting. The cats were catching at huntersville are really skinny compared to the weiss catfish. I cleaned some Friday night, I'm curious how they'll taste compared to the weiss catfish.

Not this trip. Catch and release. For some unknown reason flatheads are special to me. I prefer to release them all. Blues on the other hand are fair game for the hot grease release. I'm weird, I know that.
