Some of you know my grandfather Coach Brown. I’m sad to say he passed away a few minutes. He did not die from corona but passed away, by himself, due to Corona 🤬. My dad played football for him for 4 years. During the same time he met and started dating my mom (his daughter). Dad said football practices were extremely difficult for him, lol. He also said he wouldn’t trade it for anything. He’s in a much better place now. Here’s an excerpt from an article written about him.

Charles Brown graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1953, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
Brown played football for Coach Floyd Miller at Emma Sansom. He played guard and was offered a football scholarship to Jacksonville State Teachers College and Livingston during his senior season at Sansom.
He turned down the offers and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served two years of duty in Germany. When he returned, Brown worked at the steel plant in Gadsden and began taking undergraduate classes at Jacksonville State.
Brown finished college in the spring of 1961 and was offered a job as an assistant football coach at Altoona High School by head coach Ben Perkins. Brown served as head coach of the Choctaws basketball and baseball teams during his two years at the school.

He accepted an assistant coaching position under E.C. Wilson at Glencoe High School before landing the head coaching job at Gaylesville High School in 1965.
Coach Brown moved to Collinsville in 1967 for three seasons before going to Cordova in 1970 for another six seasons. His Blue Devil teams went 45-15-1 during his tenure at the school. Browns 1972 team lost to Oneonta 43-14 in the state championship game.
In 1976 he landed at Vinemont High School for six seasons. Next up were stints at Falkville (1982-84) and Brewer (1985-87) before ending his coaching career at West End High School in Walnut Grove in 1989.
Brown is best known as a head football coach but he also found success as a basketball and baseball coach. Browns teams won many county championships in the two sports over his 29 year career.

Sorry for your loss. My dad was a teacher at Brewer while your grandad was there.

Really hate to hear that. Prayers for you and your family. I played for Coach Brown 82-84 at Falkville.

I'm sorry to hear about Coach Brown. He was a fine man and a solid old school coach. The 1984 season at Falkville was quite a ride.

Josh, sorry for your loss. Your Grandfather was indeed a fine man and coach. I played football for him 79 - 81 at Vinemont. He left to go to Falkville my senior year. One of my memories of that year was the game when we played Falkville I played LB and one of the Falkville players broke a long run around the end and i had to run him down. After the game Coach Brown came up to me and said 'I knew he would not outrun you'. He was a good man.

Sorry for your loss Josh.

The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.
