I am looking for a pet for a friend but won’t buy one without the testing. I don’t want him to get down the road 3 or 4 years and have a dog with hip dysplasia. Responsible breeders do the testing.

If you know anyone looking to breed their dame, I have a yellow male that will be a year old in Jan. AKC, and health certified. Came from reputable breeder in Wedowee.

Hope you move those pups.
Just my opinions, and hunting dog owners all have different ones, but: While I would do testing IF I was breeding ‘professionally’, it’d only be to make some certain folks ‘feel’ comfortable, and to provide background for descending generations, and make sure I could ASK top $. It’s far more informative and conclusive to be able to look up grandparents, and other relations to learn if/how many have had joint and eye issues later in life. If you’re also staying within legit hunting lines, physical issues are far less prominent, as they don’t proliferate as much as in show/companion breeders. Legit doesn’t always mean letters by a name, either. It’s just another resume check box that buyers look for, that is more about comfort with their purchase and the puppy $ than any practicality vs what that pup may/may not be. The best lab I’ve ever had or hunted with, was free, couldn’t be registered because he was returned to the breeder over a spot on his tongue (buyer just needed $ fast), and never ran a test in his life.
