Anyone on here in central AL do ATV work? I have a 1997 Yamaha timberwolf 250 4x4 that has a blown head gasket. I've been running it for a year or more with it slightly blown, but it suddenly got a lot worse last week. It's bad enough now that it isn't usable.
I don't have the tool, skills, nor inclination to tackle replacing the head gasket myself, and if I take it to a dealership they will charge far more than the thing is worth. This is a machine that gets used a few hours a year for spraying and such and sits the rest of the time. Anyone interested in the job? Thanks

If those dealers are to high let me know, I have a bunch of dirt bikes and atv projects going but if they are way out there price wise I’ll get it going. I was looking at pic of a timber wolf and the access looks easy, I could probably do it and adjust the valves in 3 hours. Are just wanting to do the head gasket and not the lower jug gasket, if it’s not leaking it is probably fine.

I probably need the guidance of someone like you to advise me on whether it's worth the money to completely rebuild it. There is some rust in the frame and I don't really know how bad it is until it's taken apart. If it's ok, I will pm you after I talk to the other guys. Thanks for the offer!

I've used Newsite ATV Glen at 256794-5514 Thanks Chill, Glen was the first one I called and he sounds like a really nice guy. I am gonna take it to him and I think he will give me an honest assessment on whether it's worth fixing. He has worked on a lot of these, and said there are a lot of folks trying to keep them running for the same reason as me - nobody makes one now that is anything like a Timberwolf. Lots of forestry folks use them because they are so light and small.
