I looked at the hair this morning and it had fine brown tips and a black ring.......but still a lot of white. Never thought after finding him that i hit him where I did. Deer get testy around feeding stations and you can always find white hair on the ground there where they've been sparring. The hair may or may not have been related to the shot (You probably know now that you've recovered the deer). The thing that is for certain is that tissue you were holding was lung tissue and blood. Not dark or bright red arterial blood but pink highly oxygenated blood from the lungs. Glad you found him and congratulations.
