Got a Winchester model 70 chambered in 270WSM this morning. I’m not a fan of the stock and wanna change it. Was wondering what kind of stock guys on here with these guns have or would recommend. I’m assuming I just have to get a short mag stock with the blind mag but I don’t know if the WSM have a specific stock.

Also looking for ammo if anybody has any for sale thanks

Any short action stock will work if it has proper barrel inletting. What model M70 is it? Featherweights have a different barrel contour than the classic sporters and ultimate black shadow models and that will need to be taken into consideration when ordering your stock.

All it says is model 70 but I believe it’s the shadow cause the stock has like ovals on it instead of checkered design

Went to Remove the screws so I could see if it was a 2pc or 1 piece and all the screw heads are stripped so guess I’ll be getting new screws too

One problem you’re gonna have is there are very few if any affordable options with blind magazines. McMillan makes one but you’re looking at $650+ to get in the game. Or you could go with an HS Precision for around $399 and add the necessary pieces as described near the bottom of this listing.

The M70 FW WSM rifles do not have the typical FW barrel contour. It is a standard contour 24" barrel. A stock inletted for M70 short action will work.

Is yours a blind magazine? If it is, you will need to buy bottom metal or find a stock with a blind magazine. Blind magazine stock options are limited.

I’ll definitely look into those thanks. Been wanting on these guns for ever finally got one so not to worried about going a cheap route. Gotta find these action screws now

Your best option would be to sell that gun to me at a discounted price and avoid the hassle.

BOFF has got me wanting a model 70 270 wsm again. Been looking lately. Just haven’t found what I want.

Lol I’ve always wanted a 270wsm with a wood stock but I wound up with a synthetic stock o well.



A few months ago I tired to buy a featherweight model but the guy wouldn’t meet me halfway so I didn’t get it

Here ya go 257...Featherweight 270WSM, older model with red pad ... I’ve bought several rifles from this shop, The Odd Duck. They’re really good folks to deal with. Looks like a new one, still has the scope mount plugs in the receiver.

Last time I was in winter timber outdoors on Hwy 72 they had 4-5 boxes of hornady eldx in stock

So I found a stock but it says this Will not fit the Winchester 270 WSM Ultimate Shadow model. I’m 99% sure that’s what mine is but why would it not fit mine if it fits other model 70 in 270wsm
