I imagine it sets there until it is opened up again. Such a waste of someone's money and our resources that will most likely have to be opened up again even if it is by a Democrat. We can not depend on foreign oil forever and one day we will need to use our own oil again. Yes, I know Canada is a foreign country, but they are generally our allies, not enemies so I still consider it domestic oil for these purposes. The American people benefit from their oil with this project. Besides if we needed to invade them they are right next door so it would be easy to do.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

None of these moves are necessarily things they want to do...they're things that keep them in office. Here's where we're at politically today- in the past, a person ran for office to create policy and maintain what was best for his/her constituents, or what was best for the country. Today, politicians govern based upon what benefits them..."how can I maintain what I've acquired politically." This mind set is what will be our demise.

I’ve tried to keep up with this project over the years and to be honest I never saw the actual purpose of it other than a big infrastructure project that lacks real long-term benefits. It’s main goal (my understanding) is to bring tar sands oil from Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast. We already have a ton of pipelines without it. Tar sands is a very heavy oil that is not easily refined- let the Canadians refine their own junk oil. The Canadians simply want to shift the environmental burden to the US. Yep, I've been to oil sands too many times, they can keep the oil tasting atmosphere they have created as far as I'm concerned.

I don’t trust the Canadians ever since they let the Chinese hold those training exercises. The Canadians are dead to me.

Because the tar sands comprise the third largest oil reserves in the world, and a pipeline will get it here quicker and cheaper than any ship can bring oil from Venezuela or the Middle East.

We keep hearing this nonsense about relying on opec. We could produce and refine our own oil if we kept our oil here, and opened up more areas. That would keep our military here too. It’s only because the saudis use the US dollar to sell and value their oil. It’s why they paid the USA the cost of the desert storm war, when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Like Kuwait is worth even 1 American life. But the next place was gonna be Saudi Arabia for Saddam. And that couldn’t be allowed to happen. If the true cost of oil from the Middle East was paid by the oil companies, instead of the US military providing safety and security in countries and on the high seas, we wouldn’t afford it over oil from elsewhere. But there is way to much money thrown in the military industrial complex. Our government is only used to control us.
Why would we want to use up all of our oil when we can use up other countries' oil? Save ours for when we need it.

Why would we want to use up all of our oil when we can use up other countries' oil? Save ours for when we need it. When are we going to run out? It seems technology marches on. Whale oil used to be a thing. It seems batteries are the next big leap. We’ve heard of peak oil for almost 5O years. I’d rather use ours than prop up these tin pot dictators in Africa and the Middle East. We should of took their oil after WW2. I’d be more worried about those other countries running out of oil. The countries that don’t even know how to build a hammer yet. Their populations are almost 100% dependent on oil revenues. Let China worry about that stuff. Then we can focus on our own country again.
