I mean some folks may not like to think about it but our drinking water came from a source way worse than some crazy woman swimming in it. Seems like they could just treat the stuff and let it ride. I’m sure our water bills will share the cost this month

Water towers are used to ensure water pressure stays constant during peak use hours. An altitude valve at the base of the tank allows water to flow FROM the tank when line pressure is below roughly 85psi. When line pressure gets to 100psi the tank fills. A FuLL tank has roughly the same PSI on both sides of valve so the valve closes. My company has rebuilt several of these valves over the past couple years. It’s neat simple technology but man they are FICKLE when it comes to fine tuning them.

If the middle of the line is contaminated it means from the entrance valve forward would have to be tested and treated. They could drain the tank at the first fire hydrant and re test the water or put a boil to drink order out and once the gallons of the tank have been used they would retest and if passed would Lift the order
