My wife has built up preference point for a few years and was chosen as an alternate for 3 gun hunts. I know nothing about them and need some help deciding which one to choose. Can anyone give me some insight into these places and which you would choose?

Portland Landing 12/2
Uchee Creek 12/30
Thigpen Hill 2/3

I would not choose any of them, because it takes away all your preference points, even if you don’t get drawn.

But thigpen hill would catch the end of the rut, and Portland is the best hunting of the 3. So if I was to pick one, it’d be between those 3. Probably Portland.

I thought about that too Atoler, but not sure what to believe. I’ve heard different experiences from people. I know a few personally that accepted the alternate and did not get chosen, they kept their preference points the following year.

Uchee creek around late December/early January can be good. I killed a real nice buck there on Jan 5 one year and almost killed another giant one there last year in late Dec

Yea, that is good to hear. I was curious about the rut at Uchee Creek, sounds like early January could be promising.

I was told by WFF's Facebook last year that I would lose my points for accepting an alternate position. I never changed to Hunter for that hunt. I had not lost any points for this year's draws. That's not too say there isn't sleeping with a different experience though.
