I'd be interested to hear how this goes. I've got a press and some other materials for reloading shotgun shells, but I'm a complete novice.
ETA: Meant to quote Oscar

ETA: Meant to quote Oscar Went exceptionally well. 50 rds in the box. I have loaded a lot of shotgun shells for skeet over the years. I had the hulls (Rem STS and Win AA). I bought Bismuth size 3.5 (10 lbs) from Rotometals, the wads and powder. I had primers. NOTE: USE ONLY/SPECIFIC PUBLISHED BISMUTH RELOADING DATA! The great news is, Hodgdon has it on their website! And fortunately, the powder was Longshot, and I found it local! All my shotshell reloading has been 12 ga on a Mec 650 Jr MK V press. For the bismuth, I used the press much like I would if loading metalic. For skeet, I just use the press shot and powder drops. I did NOT for Bismuth. I deprimed/primed on the press, then weight checked charges and threw them with my Lyman powder measure. Then inserted/set the wad with the press. Next, I weighted out every load of shot. As an 1 1/4 oz weighs 547 grns, I used and old Ohaus 10-10 (1010 grn max). If I had used the 5-0-5 scale, I would have split it and weighed out 2x pans of 274 grns each for each shell. Then ran the shell through the crimping stations on the press. It was actually MUCH easier than it sounds, after writing it all down!

I have several lbs of Longshot and it would be easier to load since you cycle the press. For Steel powder every load is individually dropped but having the automatic powder dispenser it’s not that big a pain. Since BOSS appears to be having issues I may try loading my own. The Steel Master may be uncovered I have several thousand primed fiocchi hulls. The only STS hulls I have are 3 inch.

Look at the Hodgdon site. They have great data for a lot of hulls.
"What are you expecting for performance with the load?" - LOL - FUN! Seriously. they CAN'T do any worse than the crappy factory steel loads, which suck. Last season I killed one duck with factory Bismuth, and it sure worked better than steel - seen that bounce off! And I was using a vintage A5 with 2 3/4 bismuth loads. I basically quit duck hunting because of steel...
My real goal/expectation for this load is to get back out and hunt with the boys. And when I DO get a shot, I don't have the mental stress of shooting at a duck with a VERY inferior factory steel load. If I don't kill it, its on me now. I have a lot more confidence in the performance of the Bismuth over steel, and a huge benny, if I want to, is I can shoot the Bismuth loads in any of my vintage guns. Even more fun. I did buy a Win SX4 last year specifically to duck hunt with, and will use these loads in it, but may also carry a vintage on occasion. Bottom line - these loads will get me back in the duck blind - with the boys (all grown) more than ever - and for that I am thrilled!

That’s why I started reloading steel. I found out steel shot going fast will kill but holding the pattern together becomes a never ending quest. I talked with a guy that loaded bismuth a few years ago and when BOSS came about I ordered a case. I loaded some E Shot and worked well but it was discontinued. I’d like to find some copper plated bismuth like BOSS has.
Wind really wrecks steel shot patterns
