Had a round that was either way to hot or it was the wrong round shot out of the rifle yesterday. Probably going to need a new barrel and possibly a new bolt as well. Can anyone recommend where to locate a barrel for a Browning A-Bolt .25-06? Been looking online all day and have come up with nothing so far.

A bolts are not easy to find barrels for from what I been told. They’re the least easy gun to really customize but I’m sure gundoc can fix it up if anyone can

What exactly happened? Kinda hard to shoot the wrong round out of a 25-06 that will destroy a barrel.
Not much else will chamber ... except maybe a short action round??? Never thought hard about it though.
Unless you find one used, I doubt you will find a factory barrel.
Aftermarket is going to be the only option, unless you send it back to Browning.
If you go aftermarket there are a lot of options, you will just need it fit to the action

Only round similar that may chamber would be a 6.5-06. I doubt you could close the bolt on a 270 Win round in a 25-06. None of the belted magnums would ever chamber in that gun.

Curious as to what happened when the trigger was squeezed? Factory ammo or handloads? Was is very difficult to open the bolt or was there a lot of gas venting from the action after the shot? Was the primer pierced? Post a picture of the case and we can tell a lot from that.

I talked to him by phone earlier.
He'd been shooting a 6.5x55 and this 25-06.
He thinks he may have mixed up ammo, but a 6.5x55 won't chamber in the 25-06...I tried after we got off the phone
Says it was factory ammo.
Extremely hard recoil, and the case head separated.
Majority of the case still in the chamber.
Projectile cleared the bore.

Supposed to be bringing to me to check out next week.
May know more later

I knew a very experienced rifleman and hunter who accidentally loaded and shot a 7x57 round in a 270 Winchester on the bench one day.

Bullet exited the bore but the bolt lift was a little tight!

It happens. Fortunately I've only mixed up 7-08 and 308 and launched the 7-08 out of the 308.
Recoil was quite light and the resulting muzzle blast sounded funny .... kinda like a "PUHH"...lol

That and 300 BO in a 5.56 AR are the two most common mix ups I’ve heard of
The 300BO ooops causes catastrophic damage and possibly shooter/by stander injury

Looking forward to seeing what all is screwed up with the gun. Had a great phone call with Gundoc yesterday and am patiently waiting until Tuesday.

These were factory loads. I shoot the Hornady Superformance 117gr in the .25-06 and Sellier & Bellot 140gr in the 6.5x55. Both are great rounds.

As far as what happened on pulling the trigger. Major recoil impulse that I wasn't expecting out of the .25-06 and a huge amount of smoke and gas. Primer is still in the short piece of the bullet case. I don't have a good image of the back of the case but I can try to post one as well. Take a look at my last post of the other images.

I have a close friend that had the exact thing happen to him last year, with the same model rifle and caliber. We removed the rest of the casing with a cleaning rod. Rifle shot fine after. We blamed it on a bad round.

Good grief! Looks like the ejector is missing.
That last pic looks like it tried going forward through the bottom of the case
