It happens. Fortunately I've only mixed up 7-08 and 308 and launched the 7-08 out of the 308. Recoil was quite light and the resulting muzzle blast sounded funny .... kinda like a "PUHH"...lol Believe it not, I know “someone” that mixed up ammo during a range session and mixed in 308 with 270s. The savage action saved my, I mean someone’s ass.

Good grief! Looks like the ejector is missing. That last pic looks like it tried going forward through the bottom of the case Yep. That's a little beyond just a shiny ejector mark on the case head. This has me curious.

So thanks to Gundoc for helping me out. Turns out that when I grabbed the ammo someone (me or one of my kids) had dropped a Hornady 6.5x55 back into a box that I thought was a brand new box of Hornady .25-06.
When I loaded to shoot at the CMP Range in Talladega my first round in that gun was a 6.5x55 and the case separated and lodged in the chamber. The extractor got stuck due to the ammo pressure but I got extremely lucky and didn't damage the rifle at all. I'm thankful for that because you're not able to get a whole lot of replacement parts for these from Browning these days since they don't make it anymore.

Yeah we have had an ammunition identification class at the house and since we have a few calibers in our hunting rifles we are making sure that everything is completely separated out into different ammo boxes and no more dropping into an open or available box when we are done shooting.
