When said child graduates, he/she needs to be figuring something out pretty quick. If they are going to college, they might get a little slack but not much. Gona have to work. Also, when they turn 16yo and start driving/dating, they better have something figured out about that. Im not funding their social life, thats their business. To answer your question, i would say its a process, which around here begins well before they are teenagers. My son started paying for some things when he was 10-11yo. I do run a small business and a farm so work opportunities are readily available around here. The kids have been working with us in the orchard since they were old enough to tote a basket of peaches or a watermelon. Joseph has been going on treejobs with me since he was 11-12yo. They both buy alot of their personal type stuff already. I just make sure they have the opportunity to work and make the money to buy those things. Ok. My Son who is 19 and works 7-12s and will only hunt with me a handful of times this year, needs to PAY A MEMBERSHIP FEE just because he's graduated Highschool? In our club if a child is out of school they're considered guests and have to pay the guest fees, however your spouse or children can hunt with you the last 2 weeks of the season When I was 19 I was working offshore working the same hours or more. I was paying a membership in a club. It’s of being an adult

2 bucks, 2 does per membership. Let them split it up between father and son however they want but if they're paying for 1 membership then they only get one membership's worth of tags. Take your guests to public land or somewhere else, not the club that everybody else is paying and working for

If I ever run a club, the main rule will be if you didn’t pay for a membership, you don’t hunt. At least have a guest pays to hunt policy. Everybody helps on work days or you get a refund. Just my thought on it. I’ve been that guy that brought a guest to many times and I understand bad feelings. Amen to that.

Our club requires is as follows: In high school covered under parents membership. In college pay 50% membership. Out of college or not in college at all pay full membership.
Subsidizing the rich I see. Kind of like a reverse welfare system.

How do you guys handle this…….multiple club members have kids approaching “membership required” status for whatever reason. Be it graduating HS and not going to college, graduating college and going to work, or just whatever. Do you guys just take them on as additional members even though your club is “full” or what do you do? I’m not in a club, just a hypothetical question I’ve wondered about . Surely someone has run into this scenario. We have a waiting list of potential new members, a kid of an existing member gets moved to the top of the list

I have 2 kids one 17 and one 16, we as a member can have one guest at a time. If both my kids want to hunt a weekend another member will sponsor the one that can’t hunt under my one guest rule. I also will sponsor another members kid for hunts as well. We have a very close group of members with no bickering. Also all of our kids show up for work days to help, and more often than not seem to do more work than members. 40 percent of our members are over 65 and we do not require them to do any physical work, they drive around and tell jokes and bring us water

In our old club, children were covered under the parent's membership as long as the child was in school (high school or college). If you graduated high school and didn't go to college, you had to pay membership dues, put in work days, etc. If you didn't go to college after high school, you could come as a "guest" (and pay guest fee) twice for 1 day each trip or one weekend. We had doe tags at the time, and if you came as a guest, you had to fill a doe tag before killing a buck. If you were in college, you were covered under your parent's membership, you had to fill a doe tag before killing a buck and were required to put in work days as if you were a paying member (your work days didn't count towards the parent's work days). When signing out an area to hunt, paying members got first choice of where to hunt, while guests and children got what was left or had to sit in the same area as the paying member

Part two question. Do you allow the said Adult children to hunt by themselves without the parent hunting. The quick back story, we are a long term club that we have always had the members children become a paying member when they graduate high school which we have never had an issue with, it seems like this next generation is opposed to this. I am pro youth and want them involved but not at no charge they just don't seem to understand that the added expense needs to be supported. Non-paying children should not be allowed on the club without the paying parent. Otherwise, you really do have two full-fledged members for the price of one. No way. Not in any club I run. They'd have to change that way of thinking or find another place to hunt. What you are describing will cause major problems and member issues in the long run.

At what age do you guys consider a child of a member to become a paying member 16. That is when they are allowed to deer hunt outside of youth seasons. If your reaponsible enough to use a high powered rifle then you are treated like everybody else. Including responsible for paying your way. That's not true. There is no age restriction on hunting except during youth season. They can hunt any other day by themselves.
