Also everything I have read is less deer are killed in years of abundant acorn production. So I wouldn't be surprised to see the numbers off compared to last year.

So far I have yet to hunt one day in Alabama. I have two cell cameras running on 91 acres over corn and until tonight i did not have one single picture of a rack buck with basically the same doe and fawn numbers since October. I have plenty of daytime activity just no bucks until tonight so maybe the approaching rut will give me a reason to climb a tree yet .

Interesting discussion. I think there are variables and that each piece of property is different.

My advice based of of limited experience... if you are going to bait, do it in the woods. Baiting on the patches create extra pressure.

If you have a cell signal, use a cellular camera. Stay out as much as you can. We have dudes "checking cameras" often. It never fails that sightings drop after these events.

I do think that deer density is down overall. That's just my opinion.

I have 2 feeders out. Both now have cell camera's on them. First one has had a big rack buck visit it twice since first week of October. I had a small deer visit the other night. Those are the only deer that have come to it. The other one gets daily traffic from a few doe's, buttonheads, and a spike or two. My 3rd cell camera is sitting on a hardwood finger that runs between 2 pine thickets, and I have had a few rack bucks on it, but sporadically.

I have scrapes and rubs popping up everywhere. So its time for it to get good, and of course the cold this week should help.

there is not a single acorn on any property that I hunt. and it has been a good year as far as seeing deer.... except for the stands we have in the hardwoods.

We had a massive crop of them. I saw 6 deer total during bow season. I have probably seen 30 or more since gun season started and the mast disappeared. Most on or around food plots.
