I mentioned on another thread that my daughter was showing all the signs of Covid since late last week. In that time she has taken 2 rapid tests and a home test. All of them were negative. My wife is also showing signs of a bad ear infection so they both went to Urgent care this morning and tested negative. The Dr. said they had sinus infections but didn't give them anything (shots or prescription) to treat it. They then left and went to our family doctor to get relief for the supposed sinus issues, he recognized the symptoms and gave them another Covid test. This time they were both positive, which we already knew from all of the symptoms. Bottom line 6 tests and only two right. 33% correct 67% wrong or .333. That is good for a batting average but sucks for medical reliability.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Rapid tests are 60% or so. PCR is most reliable. Son tested negative but confirmed positive with PCR the next day. Wife had it prior to him and I have it now. No test needed for me since the other two in my household were confirmed positive. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone, sickest I’ve been in a long long time.

Just to play devil's advocate, since they are unreliable how do you know that you had 4 right and 2 wrong, and the symptoms were sinus infection? Wondered if i was only one thinking this way?
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Just to play devil's advocate, since they are unreliable how do you know that you had 4 right and 2 wrong, and the symptoms were sinus infection? Because most of the false readings are false negatives by a vast majority from what I understand plus they have many of the other symptoms of Covid and not just a sinus infection, such as loss of taste and smell. I know I tested negative on a rapid test before I ended up in the Covid Ward. Bottom line....don't necessarily trust a negative test if you have other symptoms. BTW, I just looked at the prescriptions Dr. Burns gave them. A Z pack and Hydroxicloricine (sp?). You know the drug that when Trump touted it was supposed to be killing people.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I would be the tests are having trouble keeping up with the mutant virus variations. Good news is the common cold/flu have gone away!
Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

I just got tested today. Negative. Nevermind my mild headache, low grade fever, and dry cough. Yeah could just be a cold 😏
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Jawbone - did you guys go deep enough with the swab and/or get enough "snot". I wasn't there but when our Dr. does it he touches brain matter or so it feels.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Why get tested? Just treat the symptoms and stop becoming a government statistic. The word Covid goes away and the common cold and flu will rebound.
Welcome back pcoladoc.
