Beginner here looking to learn to trap raccoons and coyotes to help our turkeys and fawns. Just wondering if anyone has any gear they’re looking to get rid of to avoid buying new. Looking for catch pole, MB550 offset traps, anchors, sifter, dogproofs, etc.

Thanks,
Jamey

I’m in the process of getting some stuff together myself. I’m building the catch pole for about $10 worth of materials, some of which you may have laying around the house. Look up diy catch pole. The sifter I’m making out of an old piece of hardware cloth on a wood frame. You could probably screw a paint roller grate to a wood frame also. I just bought new on the traps. Hope this helps.

By the way, pcsoutdoors.com seems to have the best prices I have seen.

Why do you need a catch pole? Looks like a 22 rifle would work.

I realize you said you didn't want to buy new but pcsoutdoors has great prices and trapping kits. They also have sales sometimes.

Hey Jamey, I was in the same boat recently... I wanted to learn but had nothing. I bought most of my stuff from Fleming Trapping in Ramer,Al. They have a website. I got the mb550 offsets too.
The only thing they didn't have in stock were the earth anchors...and they are still backordered. I ended up getting then from somewhere else. It looks like I'm right up the road from you in Homewood.

Catch pole is for releasing domestic animals or undesired catches and is required by law in Al to have one when trapping

I built my own catch poles out of metal pipe, pvc fittings, JB weld and a clothesline tensioner. Kinda like https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FIgqNI-RpSc

Thanks all! Got some great, lightly used gear from an ALDEER member (donation sent), ordered from Flemings, Minnesota, and eBay and got everything I thing I think I need. Looking forward to putting it to use.
