This just appeared in a Google search box of mine:
http://thewartburgwatch.com/2014/11...hris-hodges-church-of-the-highlands-arc/

I know NOTHING about Church Of Highlands other than it’s the flavor of the week like Creedmore or something, so keep your hand on your wallet.

Think “Brownsville Revival of Pensacola, 1995”.

I'm genuinely curious, does COTH actually believe that speaking in tongues is proof of salvation (from the article)? That's more of a Charismatic Pentacostal belief.

None of that is biblical. Much like Rapture theology, it's made up from misinterpretation of single verses taken out of context. And 666 refers to Nero Caesar.

Sounds like a cult. Sorry to offend any members.

We go to Church of The Highlands in Gadsden too. When we still lived in Trussville we went to the main campus. I'm not a "religious person" in any way, and would best describe myself as a spiritual person. I'm just a pilgrim going through life, but I have seen nothing in the last 14 years that would lead me to believe that Pastor Chris is anything but a Man of God.

I think that sometimes when a Church is alive and is bringing masses of people close to God it is going to be attacked by the forces of evil. Church of the Highlands has church every Sunday in virtually every prison in the State of Alabama. Do people think they are doing that for the money?

Here's to hoping this doesn't turn into one of those Aldeer "I'm a better Christian than you" threads... grin

Not taking away from your comments or necessarily about COTH because I don't know enough about them. Bringing in masses sometimes is done in the wrong fashion, as well, in large churches like Elevation, Bethel and Hillsong that are Scripture-light or just make up their own scripture.

Mark ,,, I think part of the problem is some think the bible was written yesterday and apply yesterday thinking to it.

I attend Highlands. It's not a cult. If you have not done their freedom curriculum I would encourage you to do it. It's life changing.

The bible speaks to the baptism of the holy spirit. It speaks of demons and wars against principalities.

Let me ask this. When there is a natural disaster in Alabama, who do you see on scene in very short order serving and helping? COTH. They do an annual serve day campus wide each summer. Who else is doing that?

There is no isolation like Waco. No one claiming to be the Messiah. No pentagrams or devil worship. But the mere mention of speaking in tongues and it's all of a sudden a cult?

That sounds more like the work of the enemy trying to stop a church from snatching people out of a life of eternal damnation and saving them to me.

I've lived a life before my trust in the authority of the Bible and now I'm trying to live out a life of complete trust. It's very much applicable to the current world around us. I just regret that I didnt see it back then.

Living word, living God, life eternal. Pretty sure alot of churches large and small are pyramid schemes these days, or a way to draw the most people possible in and funnel their money back to one person. Not saying good things dont happen in those places, God can use evil for good. But what was the intent of the heart? Its not just the big churches, its small churches too. Does that mean an individual who goes to one of those places, in faith they are doing Gods will and seeking him diligently is wasting their time? I dont think so. Will there be a price to pay for that fella benefitting from all the deception, yes, i believe there will be. God knows whats in a mans heart and it will be rewarded accoordingly.

I know people going to all kinds of churches who i know for 100% sure love the Lord just like i do and are doing their absolute best to lead people to Christ. There is no way you can throw a blanket over 100 or 1000 people sitting in a building and say, "all these are good" or "all these are bad". Its an individual thing.

IMO it really does not matter when the Bible was written. If You have faith in God and are a believer then the Bible is God’s word given to Man and is eternal and everlasting. Satan loves nothing more than to sow seeds of doubt in mankind and to doubt the word of God in the Bible. I am not the most faithful Christian but I thank God everyday that I had a strong raising to be brought up to have a strong faith in Him and be a believer.
