and folks say chivalry is dead, he had to defend the honor of muh lady, even if she is a bald head skallywag. He's supposed to challenge him to a duel afterwards. Like this https://youtu.be/pj9Hzs-vBLE

How does a guy who played the part of Ali in a movie throw such a poor form slappy slap? He didn't step into it.
If you are going for the disrespectful styling of a "B" slap, there should've been a complete wind up. If you are legit defending your gal's honor, it should have left Rock with a mouth full of knuckles.
On this basis alone, I must say "fake."

My other reason for believing it was fake is the way he immediately wheeled around and went back to his seat.
So let me ask you: you've been provoked enough to get up and walk on the stage to "defend your wife's honor" ... and a "slap & retreat" is sufficient? Maybe I do just slap him upside the dome, but that AT MINIMUM is just the precursor to requiring he apologize to her right now, in front of everyone, while I'm standing here. I mean, if you are committed to climbing on stage, might as well accept jail is a possibility and be ready to see this thing through.

It was staged and everybody knows it, heck it happened on a stage. If there was a real conflict it would have happened backstage or out the backdoor with a real ass whoopin'.

HAD this not happened, no one in America would be talking about the oskar's today., so you dang right it was staged. Will didn't even confront the guy Jada was supposed to be having an affair with, so this seems to be a bit of a reach to think he wouldn't laugh at a fellow comedians joke.

I don't think it was staged. Will Smith don't give a rats azz about the Oscar ratings. You telling me folks at the Oscars asked Will to come on-stage and slap Chris Rock?? Will Smith has zero to gain from this incident and everything to lose.
No way this was staged to boost Oscar ratings. If it was staged, it was staged for some other reason than TV ratings. Will Smith is getting roasted on social media for this.. roasted. Yet he was front row at the Oscar's ? He cares.

Nope, no way he is going to get involved in this for ratings... the may was cussing out loud and its on video.. that was staged too? You will see in the next couple days this was not staged.

I support Williams decision to smCk the piss out if anyone that disrespect his wife. If Joe Rogan had done the same thing, he would be hailed a hero If Joe Rogan slapped Chris Rock as hard as that was made to look, he'd be in jail and Chris rock would be dead or in the hospital with a broken neck. Rock was barely brushed by it and the whole thing was just another scripted hollywood movie.

I don't know if it was staged or not and I doubt it makes anyone who wasn't watching them last night or last year want to watch it next year, either. What it did do is make me have much less respect for Will Smith for having such a huge overreaction at a dang joke. If Jada was so comfortable to be out in public with her bald head showing, then she shouldn't have be so overly sensitive about someone making that particular joke. Hell, I would have laughed at it, too, if were me.
