These were in the gizzard of a bird I killed. I thought they were rocks at first, but at closer look they are some sort of seed. None were in the crop. Any idea what they are?

Following this. I've seen these before and I couldn't figure it out either.

Plant them and see if they come up, then we'll know what they are in a couple of years. Lol

I think Dogwood is correct. I am going to try to get them to germinate.

Im going to look for dogwood trees now for sure! If Yall are finding that food source Id jump on them. It is a lot easier killing birds where theyre heading than anywhere else.

Same as any game. I hunt my fields when the grasshoppers show up or the grains seed. Usually not until then as they arent there much. But when either of those happen turkeys show up. Hunt the food source like with any animal Ive always thought.

That explains why I always heard of turkeys strutting in under the dogwoods trees.

Great post OP. Nice thing to learn IMO. You can learn something new everyday if you look and listen Ive always been told. thumbup

I am always trying to learn more about these birds. I always try to examine the crop to get an idea of what they're eating and where that food source is located on the land I hunt. Just another small piece in the overall puzzle.
