Ben not sure how old your dad is, but I 'am 59, kayak is very sturdy, wife and I had had them 10 years and never went over and I think we have had some big boats that tried! He is in his 70s and never kayaked. He has had a small plastic boat for 25 yrs thats now dry rotted. I have a small really narrow jon boat and one of those little cajun boats like a canoe but he just wants one similar to what he got years ago. Says the 2 mentioned make him nervous

Have you used any of the ones you listed? Used a gheenoe and one similar to the others (i forget the brand and model though)...personally I'd go with the gheenoe because I like the option of being able to put a small outboard on it

Yeah dont want to spend a ton as it will possibly get stolen. He just needs something failry stable with a higher seat and he just needs to be able to slide it down the bank and pull it back up on the bank when done.

Check out Creekboats. They have several models, some come with a trolling motor package. I got the M98 years ago and set it up for duck hunting. I put a small trolling motor on it and can go about anywhere, I did not go with a seat as I use mine as a layout boat, but I have put my own seat in it and fished just fine. Lightweight is what I liked most.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.
