Okay so here it goes Mr Biden said the other day that the second amendment did not allow people to buy a cannon. Well I happened to come across a signal cannon last Friday and bought it. The cannon itself weighs 61 pounds and is brass. The base is all wood and on wooden wheels. I don’t believe it is an original but, it is definitely older. The research I have done so far on the markings on the cannon have a crown with GR below which seems to be King Edward the third. I would love to post picks but, even after reading the post the other day on how to post pictures I have not been able to do it. If anyone is knowledgeable on these items I would really appreciate any information about it. Thank you.

I’m a member of a muzzleloader forum and they have a cannon sub forum if that tells you how legal they are. Most are small replicas but there was a recent thread about a full sized one the man was restoring. Biden would have a fit knowing this old man built it when he was a teenager and kept it all these years. Dude is a superb craftsman and it looked like the real deal before he even started the rebuild but those guys are sticklers for being period correct so that’s mainly what he was doing. You can buy cannon fuse at academy as well. I’m sure now that he spouted off that crap the atf will have to revisit the black powder terrorist grips. Insert eye roll here.

If the stamp on it says GR that means George Rex so its late 1700's.

Old canons can be had but modern artillery no. I think it has to be made prior to a certain date in time for you to legally own it.

It be's that way sometimes.

It is definitely an interesting and cool item. Have an area to display it is the challenge due to weight and size.

Sir, it is GR for King Rex and has a Crown above it but, I think it is in way to good of shape to have been from then. Believe it is a replica just trying to figure out how old of a replica.

Just a suggestion, before you get too wound up with it do google search on reenactment cannons exploding. We had one in the JROTC unit where I worked and the Colonel decided it was my turn to run the cannon team. My original military job was a Combat Engineer and I'm very familiar with explosives. I flat out refused. We had a Mountain Cannon made in Selma in the 1950s.

I assure you one thing I won’t be loading it and firing it. Would have to be someone that is very familiar with the process. Probably needs to go to an NDI lab to look for cracks that can’t be seen. If anyone knows how to post pics if the private message me their cell phone number I will text them the photos to post for me. Thank you guys.
