Update ?
Does anybody know if Kimber is producing rifles with Troy AL stamp? I haven't seen a new Montana in ages.

Steyr rifles are imported. I do think someone around Troy imported a run of them. There was definitely some imported through a company in Trussville I have one of those. Gun South,Inc , in Trussville; was formerly the Steyr importer. They also did Merkel and other high end guns. They were related to the Birmingham Woods family that owned the Aeromarine boat, gun and outdoor store. That store sold James Earl Ray the Remington 742 that killed MLK.

Correct; wrong on the model. I think he actually bought a .243 first and swapped it back. Hellhound on His Trail is a GREAT. book about the shooting and the hunt for Ray; BTW.

This I could be incorrect but I've heard it was a 6mm bolt 700 first and he swapped for the '06. Not that any conspiracy could follow an unemployed drifter who after buying the rifle hitched a ride to East Lake bought a year old Mustang drives to Memphis kills King boards a flight and gets caught in London. Absolutely makes sense that this unemployed drifter could've found a big sack of money to finance this caper right?
