Machin just announced that he'd reached a deal with Schumer to allow the dems to pass a scaled down version of their tax and spend green wish list (formerly known as the New Green Deal) though budget reconciliation, which requires just 50 dem votes. Minimum tax rates for corporations (will be passed directly to consumers), typical climate change stuff, promises from Biden admin to reduce some regulatory red tape later this year after the mid-terms ( yeah right, like that's going to ever happen). Just more of the same old same old. You'd think that with 10% inflation (really prob 30% or more for the middle class) that they would have learned that printing and putting more money into circulation causes real problems but I guess they dont teach that part of basic economics at Ivy League prep schools and colleges. No mention of how much, other than repeatedly saying "it's scaled way back from the original price tag", but I'll bet it's still in excess of another trillion and this new agreement is on top of the trillion they all agreed to last week. Bend over and smile for the camera Americans, and know that your elected officials are looking out for your best interest.

That is disappointing. I can't see a guy from a coal producing state thinking this will be of benefit to his voters, unless he has larger aspirations that remaining in the senate. I'm betting there is something in there specifically for the coal guys, to allow for a certain number of new coal fired power plants, or something like that, etc. Gotta have something to generate power for those EVs and it dang sure wont come from wind or solar. Then again, they may have just outright offered Machin a large sum of cash in a strategically placed offshore account. A nice influx of cash for his campaign.... no telling. We will certainly never know how the sausage was made. LOL. I certainly hope the citizens in his home state will remember and reward him with a trip to the porch next time he's up for re-election.

One thing all politicians have in common is that sooner or later they will all disappoint you. Everyone has their price

Oh.... but he's really conservative and going to be the firewall between us and Nancy.
Yea right.
West Virginia needs to get their heads outa their asses and vote him out. I knew this was going to happen.
If Chuck needed a vote all they would have to do is get Mitch to pony up a couple Republican at the 9th hour like they did last time. They are pissin down our backs and telling us it's raining.
Has anyone gotten Katie Britt's position on these spending bills? I thought she was running for election in November. I'd love to hear from her. But nobody in Alabama is going to ask her. That's what's wrong with this State.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Well, increasing taxes is one way to fight inflation. Not the play I'd go with. I'm more of a Jack Kemp flat tax supply side guy.
Though the increases in taxes (if I read them right) I dont think are a big deal. 15% minimum corporate tax on companies over 1billion and ending carried interest for fund managers. Both of those were fat cat welfare written into the code.
Historically, tax increases result in less tax revenue. There's a reason that large corporations have a squad of tax attorneys. Democrats never learn from their mistakes, they just double down

The 15% will get pushed down to the Consumer. Who is us.
So it's "tax and spend" any way you look at it. Democrat AND Republican's 101.
