Its been so long since I haven't had a dog I don't remember when it was. I had to have my doberman put down last month and today I had my lab mix euthanized. I guess it's been close to 30 years or so. It's a sad day around here and it will be a sad day tomorrow when I come home and there's not a wagging tail meeting me at the door.

We've got a member on this forum with two female lab mix that need a home. They can't replace yours, but they can distract you from the loss. They need you as much as you need them.

I've got a great Lab mix looking for a new home so we can complete the move to TN if you need a wagging tail to greet you.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I honestly don't think I'll be ready for another dog for a while. When my dobie went down I talked to my wife about it and we both decided to give it a while to mourn. Now without her lab mix if she wants a dog she can get one but I don't think I could handle it for a while.

A dog loves you more than any person ever will. Don't believe me? Lock both in a trunk for a few hours and tell me which one is happy to see you when you open it.

May the sound of hounds never die!

I agree. A dog gives unconditional love and will help ease the pain. Had to put my boxer down due to damn cancer. Got another one in a week. Just couldn’t bear not having a boxer in my house.

Sorry for your loss, dogs are family.

When my dog died a couple of years ago, my former wife got me a dog about a week later. I was not happy about it initially, but it did help ease the pain. He was by no means a replacement, Duke will always have a place in my heart.

I didn't get another because I felt disloyal to him if I got another. People like you did , need to remember you ain't replacing the dog , you just getting another .

I feel ya ur pain. We lost our little buddy about two months ago and it’s been one of the hardest things I have ever dealt with. It’s one of the main reasons we are coming to Bama earlier than planned. It pretty much makes me sick to walk into the home I have been in over 30 years.

I like having a dog to bark at things. They can definitely be aggravating but I like the ones I have and they are all mutts. Our next door neighbors moved off a couple months ago and left their dog so when she got hungry she wound up at our house so we been feeding her and I done got attached so she’ll stay. The best dogs I have ever had just wondered up and I don’t think this one is going to be any different.

Thanks guys. My wife is pretty tore up about it too. She acts like she's not but I know she is. She talked a while back about getting her a little foo fooy dog so ill give it a few days and she if she wants to do that. I've had at least one Doberman for over 25 years and I love the breed but if/when I get ready I may go with something smaller as long as its smart. I had a husky once and that dog was dumb as dirt.

Sorry to read.
Dogs are special and made for us.
Prayers of comfort and prayers for guidance in what to do or not to do in seeking out another lifelong friend and companion in a dog(s)
May the doors be open in finding the right one(s) or completely closed, in helping to determine what to do or not to do in you and your wife's searches.

God Bless,
David B.
