Don’t help random people. If god wanted them to be helped on the side of the road, he’d send a tow truck. Sadly, our society has come to that. Y'all may remember me talking about one of my former "customers" that just got the big needle a few months back. He, his brother, and a friend were broke down on the side of the road and a gentleman that just got off work in the early morning hours stopped to help them. As thanks they shot him in the neck with a shotgun and robbed him of a few dollars.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Looked like a lady broke down and when we stopped a man came walking out of the woods. We hauled ass and called the law to help them. I’ve often wondered if they were planning to rob us at 4:30 that morning.

I would have hated to be the cop who had to face down a 5 year old kid carrying a loaded shotgun. Damp people in this world done gone crazy.

I'd have fell into that trap, probably had the same ending or worse. I've stopped to help women on multiple occasions if not in a hurry to get somewhere. I've took pregnant women home to their family when nobody would answer their calls and a huge storm was rolling in. I've helped a few motorists by blocking traffic while they changed a tire. I try to help those in need when possible. But that story is making me rethink that. Shooter and her accomplice need the death penalty. They need to raid that camp and arrest everyone in it. Interrogations for all. I'm guessing there are more than one body scattered through that forest. Missing persons cases likely to be solved soon.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

About the time I started to stop I saw the guy hiding in the ditch. I grabbed a gear and hauled ass

I’m curious on the details of the camp they found. They have been quite on that. Bet if it was some good old boy rednecks camped out it would be 24/7 news for days If I had to guess they don't want anyone snooping around out there until they are done.

I slowed down on a 2 lane one night for a car with the hood open. I eased up beside it with the passenger door window down a bit and doors locked. Dude asked me to pull over in front of him. I saw others in the ditch. When I eased forward he tried to get in the car. As I sped off I saw 3 others come up out of the ditch from both sides. Never stopped since if I don't know them. That was 40 years ago.

Last person I stopped to help was a woman walking down the road crying, carrying a youngin with a car a couple hundred yards behind her sitting there with a flat tire. That's about what it takes to get me to stop. Someone sitting there trying to flag me down, I won't even think about it.
May the sound of hounds never die!
