I was thinking about going with some auger anchors and steel cable. Then I seen some anchors and straps but I wonder if the squirrels will chew those straps up. Mdees 8 point M Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 2,262 Mobile, AL	I’ve done the auger anchor and a heavy duty 2” ratchet strap. Never had squirrels mess with one but these were also generally placed in clearcuts and such. Not in the woods.

Auburn_03 6 point Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 855 Marshall County	All mine have a hole in each leg. I drive a piece of rebar about 18” long in each leg. I weld a nut on top of the rebar that is larger than the hole in the tripod leg.

Al	Like the others, I used screw in anchors, I went to tractor supply and got the size for anchoring storage buildings, mine was in the open, You would have a hard time doing that in the woods with all the roots. If its in the woods you would have to get some big stakes like they use on circus tents and drive them into the ground.

If the rain misses us then I'll set up this week with the auger anchors and straps or steel cables. I seen Academy has a 8' cable with anchor for $19.99. The ground was to rocky and hard. I had to buy a heavy duty Kobalt impact drill to get them to work. A regular cordless drill is useless for these. This was in Barbour and Henry counties and pretty rocky tough ground.
