Having been a lifelong Baptist, I’ve heard the group invitations to the county associational men’s WILD GAME SUPPER for decades. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never been to even one of these suppers due to the belief that while I would love to sample some genuine wild turkey, some fried crappie, and some pheasant (all foods I’ve never had an opportunity to try even though I’ve lived in the country for a long time), what I would face instead would be a long serving table of dry, tough, bland deer meat.

I could be mistaken about this, of course. Y’all let me have it if I’m wrong!

I’m thinking of doing one between deer and turkey season for our little mens group at Church. Been a long time since we have done one. I’ve got some red stag, fallow, oryx, turkey, quail, dove, whitetail and easily can add fish. Doubt i do wild hog unless i shoot a really small one. Squirrel would be cool. Probably be less than 20 show up.

No way I'd go to eat a bunch of random deer meat. Call me crazy, but I'll pass on that...

Never even the first mouthful. My grandfather loved to catch and eat them before I was born, and my son catches them now and says they’re very good.

Wild turkey, fried crappie, and pheasant is some of the finest foods you could ever possibly eat! Where do I sign up? No wild game suppers at our church that’s filled with city folks.

I want to try all those meats too. Never tasted any of them, but sometimes those meats are listed in the welcome and announcement here in Marion County. I’m not sure how frequently it’s actually present.

Yeah, no thanks. Who's bringing their pheasant or deer backstrap? I wouldn't lol. It's gonna be folks dumping their rutty buck ground meat.

We used to do one at our church. Regular items on the menu included:
- skwerel
- rabbit
- pheasant
- deer
- coon
- random assortment of fish

I love pheasant. Only had it a few times when a buddy went to Kansas and brought me a bunch back. My wife absolutely loved it. I wish we had pheasants here because I would kill everyone on aldeer’s limit and have em in my freezer!
