Long story short. Live out of state money cabin/camp can’t be attached to my home owners or written by my agent because he’s not licensed in Alabama. I contacted agent in the area and I can tell she has no idea how building w camp works: any of you did the work yourself and have your camp insured?

Try Mayer by hitting sponsor button up top. He’s a good’n and will help you find what you are looking for.

I’ve used ALFA to insure my camp trailer, barn and for general liability at my camp with no problems, but I own the land.

Is it your land or someone else’s? If it’s yours I don’t think you would have any issues?

Ours is on someones property we lease. Renters insurance for contents can be gotten but, insuring the structures we built and the portable sheds for bunkhouses is a no go since we arent the landowner.
If the landowner called and got a policy i dont think that would be a problem.

Also when you say the words hunting club insurance people cringe and it takes it to a higher level of scrutiny.

I have had ALFA on my cabin the last 17 years.......had to do a fire policy, because insuring fully was to expensive. Only coverage I'm lacking is if a pipe were to burst and flood. I'm covered for anything natural and fire.

I guess I’m confused as to why you want to build a semi permanent or permanent structure on something that could be ripped out from underneath you at any point. That’s probably also why you are having a hard time finding insurance. You ever thought of just getting a fifth wheel or something that you could take with you if something happened?

If a 20 year of pine falls through the middle of it, lighting strikes burns to the ground I would like to not be out the 40k I have invested. And the building can be moved if it’s taken from us.

Maybe put it on a trailer frame with wheels and word it as a mobile home?

I don’t do personal lines so I also suggest you reach out to Brandon by clicking the other ALdeer insurance agency’s sponsor Mayer banner Ad to visit his website like other poster said. He’s a good guy and likely has a product to fit your personal line needs.

I don’t want it on on trailer as a mobile home: I want it sitting exactly where it is with power, water septic: it’s w 36’x14’ loft cabin. Even if it were on a frame I still want it insured. I’m going to shoot the guy a message that supports the sire.

Call it a vacation place. "I live in Florida, so I don't need a beach house. We vacation in Alabama in the fall."
