Anyone have experience with these... specifically that the MOA ring "floats" and there is no audible click when adjusting. if ring is supposed to float, how do i set to "re-zero" a gun and not run it out of adjustment. Am I missing something about how this should work? any advice is appreciated. Thanks-

You need to find the center of travel that means you have to know how much travel from bottom out to top out then divide by half that will center the crosshairs in the tube. I think the lines on the ring are 1moa marks but it's been so long since I've fooled with one of those I can't remember for sure.

scope has been on the gun since 2005, it is a pain to zero- especially if you don't understand the markings. I just got the rifle back out to start shooting again an was going to re-zero. finding the center of travel would probably be a good start. not understanding what "try the mirror" means Bull64. I have been putting the "0" on the indicator mark that moves as you adjust... and moving accordingly to change impact point. Not sure if that is really the way to do it.

Take the turret caps off and set it to the lower power. Using a well-lighted mirror ,look through it with the objective end flat to the mirror. You’ll see 2 sets of crosshairs.Move your adjustments to center both of them together.Reticle will be centered… Thanks Bull64- will go this route

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but there seems to be some confusion about moving the graduated ring that is around the adjustment screw. The part in the middle with the slot is the adjustment screw which moves point of impact. The ring around it is not moved when zeroing the scope.
The ring around is moved after you zero, if you want, to put the zero at the mark on the adjustment screw. The idea is you can dial for elevation and windage while shooting and then be able to adjust back to your zero. It's kind of pointless because there's a bit of technique in using those friction scopes.
If the scope has always been on the rifle and the scope is not broken it should point fairly close to zero. If you use the two-shot method it'll save ammo. Lotta videos on youtube if you search two-shot zero or one shot sight-in, etc.
