I got saved when i was a young boy. But i never grew much. I put much more effort into my physical life than i did my spiritual life. I listened to the flesh more than i did the spirit. By the time i was 16 yo i started working on sunday and quit going to church because i didnt enjoy church any more. By the time i was 30yo i had been strung out on drugs for years, i had two failed marriages, had one daughter i never had a good relationship with, pretty much just did whatever felt good to my flesh. The spirit was still alive but just barely flickering. I prayed often but got few answers. I was doing my best to ruin my sons life and destroy the relationship i had with his mother. Well, by the time i was 31yo i had pretty much accomplished that. I watched Jennifer drive away with Joseph Nov 1 14 years ago, we were done. The Lord said right then, clear as anything ive ever heard " Heres your chance". So i went up to my daddys and talked to him about all that was going on and he said" Son, i cant help you, but i know one who can". I asked daddy to pray with me. I got down in a field that was a peach orchard and i gave my life to the Lord. I asked him to put my family back together and told him if i had destroyed it so bad he couldnt fix it, i would take whatever he would give me and i would be happy with it. I told him i had wrecked everything i ever had and from then on i would follow him. I admitted i was nothing and he was everything and begged him to take control of my life. He did just that. The next day, i went back to the church i walked away from at 16yo and made things right with them. I never wanted to get high again since the day i gave my life to him. He ripped that out of me like it was never there. Three months later Jennifer came back. The next day we got married and she moved back in. As far as i remember i have woke up in the house with my family every morning except a couple times she took the kids to visit her brother in Arkansas. I vant say we never have fussed or argued. I reckon thats just a part of most lives. I can say the Lord has held us together. The Lord saved Jennifer and changed her life, he saved both of our kids and ive got to see all three of them join the church and heard all three of them testify of what the Lord has done for them. Ive tried about everything under the sun in my life and i can say the only thing that ever made a difference was Jesus. I gave my life to him and he has taken wonderful care of it. He has protected me and my family. He has provided for us. He has given us the strength and courage we need to make it through this deteriorating world we live in. He has blessed us well above what we deserve. Ill never be able to repay the Lord for all hes done for me. But i thank him and i will trust him with my life. Hes the only thing that ever made a difference.

Thanks for posting that JW.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

JohnG. I wish i had known this weeks ago so i could have been praying for you, calling your name out to God. I dont know whats going on in your life, but i know this for sure, God is able to make it right. He is able and he wants to. He sent his son to die on the cross that people just like me and you can have an abundant life here on this earth and then spend eternity with him in heaven. That is a fact and it is the most real thing in this universe. He will help you. Just let him. I love you man and i will be praying for you.

Walker, Iāve never communicated with you, but have been meaning to send you a PM the last several days to let you know your stories are one of the reasons Iām away from my family right now at a rehab facility. Thanks man, you are a very transparent person and your words mean a lot to me. Got two more weeks here, then the real work begins. You helped give me the courage to try to change tracks. It takes a big man to admit he needs to make a change. Prayers lifted for you brother.

Thatās a wonderful testimony of what can be done for us if we simply ask for help and truly want it. While I am not a church kinda guy I know without a doubt God is there for us and will do amazing things if asked for the right thing, which is his will not mine. I too was on the verge of destroying every good thing in my life, in my case as an active alcoholic. For years I was able make good money, maintain a successful professional career, raised good kids, great wife and outwardly it did not seem there was a problem at all with the fact I was doing it drunk from about 12:30 pm to bed time. At least in my mind. I would probably be doing the same thing right now except for the fact twice I have gotten about as direct a spiritual experience as one can have. First time I can only describe as being in the direct presence of something way beyond me and being told very clearly āyou will go to treatment and it will be all rightā. It was powerful enough I walked into the house, called my wife and told her I would be going, called my boss to arrange time off and called the treatment center. 30 days later I went in and it indeed was Ok. Got me 12 years of sober until I got stoopid for about 8 years. Second time He got me back on track by asking me two simple questions once again very clearly. When I answered the questions truthfully it was like ādang I gotta go backā which I did. The amazing thing was in both cases the desire to drink was completely removed which is pretty crazy since I was a fifth a day kinda guy. The point of this is JohnG if ya really want to get sober and stay that way AA or NA are pretty much the only way it will happen. I have been around this thing for 30 years and only in the rarest of cases does someone stay sober long time without them. In some cases church will do it but they are really two different animals. I had seen many folks come into AA get sober and decide church is what they need. And in a year or so they would be back beat to heck because it was not.

Thanks for the advice and thoughts. When I went to my wife two Fridayās ago and told her I was ready to get help with my drinking, Iād never seen her scramble so much to get things lined up, that evening when I got home, she had a big smile on her face and told be I was heading out Monday, and to expect sever phone calls tomorrow. Sheās been in contact with local AA groups looking for the best fit. Again thanks to all of you.

Mr walker , you need be in a teaching position somewhere.lot people would benefit on what you have to say. Whether church,AA or drug rehab.Don t really hear someone really open up about their life struggles like you do. An how much you have changed because of it . Testimonies like this could be a life changer for so many people .
