Free State of Winston
I’ve never noticed a huge difference across the state in acorn crops like I have the last 2 years. I hunt Winston County exclusively.

Last year we had a bumper crop of acorns, kept the deer in the woods till January just about. I noticed last year some folks saying that they had no acorns.

Now this year our acorns were almost nonexistent. Seemed like most of Bankhead was that way as well. I see folks on here all the time talking about a bumper acorn crop this year.

What can cause it to be so different just an hour down the road? I’ve always been told your spring weather is what determines your acorn crop but I obviously need to learn a lot more to really understand it.

This year’s drop was better than last in my area of Monroe county. Lots more white oak than last year. Red oak about the same. Water oaks are like marbles walking in the swamp flats. It enough that the deer are eating the swamp chestnut oak acorns at my front gate. Last year I picked up two. This year I’ve gathered more than 60 and then quit.

Where I'm at in north florida we had more acorns this year than I can ever remember having in years past. Some of the oak trees where I work you almost couldn't hardly walk under them because it felt like you were going to fall there were so many acorns under your feet.

Where I live and hunt in AL and MS, all the trees were loaded....there are still large amounts of them on the ground in MS, I was hoping the cold and wet weather would spoil them quickly, but not all trees dropped at the same time.....every deer that I have killed so far this year has been loaded with acorns......

I have one property on the east end of Colbert County that had a great crop. I also own land on the West end that did not produce an acorn. Go figure.

I had an abundance of deer pre season and they disappeared n away I hav never seen before and really in Camden - still mostly gone
If u hunt fields and hav an abundance of nasty thicket - makes it hard - my neighbors hav the acorn trees n Wilcox and hav way more acorns in Clarke than I do 😀

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
We need prayer for our country now more than ever
