Anyone have suggestions on a crawlspace/foundation company that could offer some solutions to a wet crawl space?
This is for a house just north of Birmingham.

Had one company come today and they quoted a full encapsulation and then having to dig around the garage slab to waterproof that section.

Anyone have anyone they have worked with/can recommend?

Thanks

I used BDry because they were the only company that didn’t try to sell me full encapsulation because it wasn’t needed. I can tell you AFS was the most expensive quote I got.

If you comfortable doing it, depending on how bad, you can easily put a vapor barrier down.

Buckets away does good work for a fair price.

I’d imagine AFS would be the most expensive, but they’ve grown a hell of an operation, so I’m assuming their work speaks for itself.

If The Crawlspace Doctor out of Huntsville works in your area, give them a call. I’ve met the owner a couple times over the years and have referred them to several happy customers. No clue how they stand in comparison to price, but they look to do quality work from everything I’ve seen.

The best way to determine it is when they arrive is ask the simple question on the person that comes to your home. Are you a commissioned sales person or do you actually have any true construction experience

Stay away from AFS. Speaking from personal experience.

Yup. Wouldn't let them touch anything I own after my experience.

I’ve used AFS for some water/foundation issues and couldn’t have been more pleased. They weren’t the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive either. They did spend the most time investigating my problems and used all kinds of fancy gadgets/tools to make sure they were right in their assessment. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

If it's not done right, it's not done at all. Plastic installed without proper sealing isn't doing a thing. Full encapsulation involves a lot of components. The plastic, sealing crawlspace vents, dehumidifying, etc. Matt Caudel. Southern Home Structural. 205-966-9822.

Before spending a penny on the crawlspace, make sure grading slopes away from the home 6" over 10". Make sure gutters are installed and terminating properly. Plastic 18" trays at a minimum. Preferably longer extensions if you can swing it. Once that is done, if it doesn't dry up, then spend money on the crawlspace. Show me a home without gutters or negative grading and I'll know there is moisture intrusion before I get out of my truck.

Good luck. Let me know if Matt can't help. I've got others. He's been the best so far.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

I second Matt Caudel
