Gonna buy a 40-50 HP 4x4/FEL tractor. You ALL have opinions so I would like to hear them. Manual/HST/Shuttle? Massey/Mahindra/JD/Kubota/ New Holland Dealers: Coblentz/Capitol/Sunsouth( service could be out of Montgomery/Troy/Dothan) Best Pkg- tractor/disc/bush hog/trailer?
Thanks in advance.

Tractors are like boobies and ding a lings. You always want a bigger one than you got!! Buy one as large as you can afford.
For using the FEL, definitely want a hydrostatic. If you want 6 foot implements. I would recommend a 50HP, you can get away with a 40.....but would be happier with a 50.

I personally would look for a twenty year old with low hours. The new ones have so much electronics I would try to avoid them. If you take your time you could find a good older one. I was looking for 15 year old pre tier IV and I couldn’t find anything less than 800-1,000 hours. At that point I just decided to buy late model low hour used. I’d find the best and closest dealer and buy that brand.

Had a jd 3038 with fel and was perfect for the 20 acres I had but needed something bigger when I bought more property and bought a 66 hp with fel.. loved them both. If you maintain them and treat em right, they’ll last forever. Never really heard bad things about old fords or jd or kubota

Bought a Kubota L4701 5 years ago standard shift Never a minutes trouble and handles 6' equipment just fine I use it for planting greenfields, gardening, bush hogging the pasture and many more things I will say with whichever tractor you decide on DO buy one with a bucket They come in more handy than you can imagine
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

What is it mainly going to be used for? Primary use- bush hog work secondary- disc plots that are not TNM other- spreader/moving shooting houses I have a 1972 john deere I cant work on that only pulls a big plow, it sets up a lot and I am afraid the latest issue is going to require breaking the tractor and removing the cab to resolve a clutch and pressure plate issue. just ready to have something that doesn't require a day of work to get it ready to go. would be one of 4 tractors similar size - we have a pretty large lease and only get together a couple times for fall work days so it would help get things done faster with limited time we have. I need to be able to do more than just plow.
