I have had quite a few snake boots rocky, Danner jackals, danner pronghorn, and Chippewa lace ups. The Chippewas were much heavier much better quality and construction, but not as comfortable. The pronghorn were better quality than the jackals and stayed dryer longer than the jackals and both danners were very comfortable. But The Chippewa are the only ones my foot has stayed dry in.

If you have any kind of leather treat it with mink oil, It helps tremendously with a waterproofing

Ive got the Chippewa pull ons and they are as comfortable as any boot I've ever worn. This will be season 6 on them i believe. Treat them a couple times during the season and they stay dry.

I have Chippewa pull-on and Twisted X. Both are great. Twisted X are lighter, have better grip and all leather.

Chippewa is the only snake boot I've owned that will not leak but they are pull-ons and are a pain to get on and off
Need a bootjack to get those things off and at times feels like its going to dislocate a knee while doing it

I usually wear Danner Sharptails or Gokey's. Before buying the Gokey's, I looked at the Chippewa's. Before buying, I went to various forums to see what folks thought of them and found some had trouble with them fitting over their calves. I called Chippewa and they sent a chart of the calf sizes their models would fit, along with instructions on where to measure your calf. The one's I was trying to buy would only go up to a calf measurement of 13". That wasn't going to happen, so I bought the Gokey's. Just something to keep in mind if you're a biggun'.

When I bought mine, they were more like $500. Still expensive, but not $800. They are most definitely heavy and very hot. If I were going to buy today, it would be the Danner Sharptails.

I had the rocky boots and they lasted longer than any I've had about 8 years and the sole separated. The Irish setter where the most comfortable but only lasted about 4 years before the sole separated. I have Danner now going on 4 years and they are still dry but are not comfortable and never have been. I wear snake boots year round so I put a lot miles on them.
