Headed there tomorrow after work to take family skiing. Weather doesn’t look good at all but we will still have fun. Anyone know anything about the place, recommendations on any dinner or breakfast places?

You'll be better off riding up the road to Waynesville for food. It's only about 10 minutes. I grew up going to Maggie Valley on motorcycle trips. There used to be a place called Maggie's, but I think it closed. Not a whole lot in town.

Mexican place in Bryson is good. Joey's Pancake House for breakfast and The Valley House for lunch.

Pancake place is pretty good. There’s also a decent Italian place for dinner. My mother in law lives a few miles down the road in Lake Junaluska.

Smoky Mountain train ride out of Bryson city is awesome. We rode the old steam train and had first car. That steam whistle bouncing off them mountains was something special . Go see the elk in Cherokee

Supposedly on the show Moonshiners, that is a big sale point.

I’ve had the ribeye steak sandwich at Bogart’s in Waynesville a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

Great elk viewing areas ( better than Cherokee IMO) from Maggie Valley toward Cataloochee Valley.

This. They may have already shed but in the fall you have a chance to see some real good ones in that area.

Waynesville is your best bet for grub.

Maggie Valley used to have an an amusement park called Ghost Town in the Sky. It was a fun little amusement park. Had to ride an incline car up to top of mountain. The place was setup like an Old Western town with entertainers portraying gun fights in the street. Place has been closed for along time though.

I think I read where they are looking to open it back up. That is where Mark and Digger carried a few barrel to age on Moonshiners last season.

Bocellis in Waynesville has decent italian food. Near there is a nice downtown shopping. One place has some gorgeous driftwood type furniture. Asheville is down the road a little where the Biltmore Estate is located.

Make the drive to Cataloochee Valley. It’s well worth it.

It had sold and then family of the original owners bought it back and was going to reopen it. However, I think I read that it was dead in the water. Probably covid.
